GED Testing at Texas State Technical College


The GED test is made up of four subjects, Mathematics, Reasoning through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. You can choose to test in English or Spanish. Click here to find out more about the GED test, fees, scheduling, and online testing.

What’s the 2014 GED® Program?

In 2014 you have more than just a test. You’ll have access to MyGED™ your online portal to sign up, study, schedule, check scores, and learn about jobs and college.

Go to MyGED™ at and click on “Study” to find tools, free practice test questions, and GED Ready™: The Official Practice Test.


Does Texas State Technical College provide GED classes?

Yes, GED classes are offered at our Harlingen location. Please contact the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) at (956) 364-4505 for more information. To find a preparation program in your area, contact Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy & Learning (TCALL) at 800-441-READ (7323).


Is there a fee to take the test?

You can pay as you go with the GED® test. This means you can pay for each subject individually or when you are ready to test. In Texas, the fee per subject is $36.25 or $145 total.  


How do I register?

Registration is simple. Simply sign up for MyGED™ at and you will get information about local policies, how to request modified testing conditions (accommodations), or you’ll be able to schedule right then.


When can I schedule?

Scheduling is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week with MyGED™ at Login and click on “Schedule Test”. Once you complete the scheduling questions you’ll be directed to choose your test center location, language, subject, and the day and time that works best for you to test. You can also schedule one test at a time to make sure you feel prepared every time.


What is the passing score?

On the 2014 GED® test you need to earn at least 145 points on each subject to pass. To find out if you’re likely to pass, take the GED Ready™ The Official Practice Test and the only test that can tell you if you’re likely to pass. Sign into MyGED™ at to get ready with GED Ready™.  


What is the retesting policy?

You can test three times on the same subject without wait time restrictions. After the third attempt, there is a 60 day waiting period before retesting again.

Where can I et a copy of my scores?

Go to MyGED™ at*If tested prior to 2014 and need an official copy of your certificate, click here to download a PDF document and transcript. You will be assessed a $5 fee to be paid online with a credit or debit card.
