NOTE: Course prerequisite/corequisite
When a course is a prerequisite or corequisite and the student is a PBE student, the PBE grading scheme is applicable. If the prerequisite was completed prior to the PBE start term for the student, the traditional grade may be acceptable. The student should review prior grades with the Enrollment Coach.

Performance Based Education (PBE) Program Competencies and Traditional Program Instruction (Non-PBE) Curriculum Revisions

Each Program of Study, at least once a year, reviews its degree plans, courses, lesson plans, course objectives, course outcomes and/or competencies. They do this to ensure that each degree plan contains the most current curriculum and that it meets industry standards and requirements.

Students who successfully complete courses by meeting the minimum standards set for the course will complete the course outcomes and/or PBE competencies and assessments set at the time of enrollment. Course outcomes, competencies, and assessments can be updated at any time, especially from one academic year to another. If a student needs to repeat a course they may need to complete different lesson plans, course objectives, assessments and/or course competencies.

Example: A student drops or fails a course in the Spring semester. When the student registers to retake a course, some or all of the course lesson plans and/or competencies and assessments may be different. Therefore, the student will need to successfully complete the newest assessment requirements for the course.

Learning Resource Center

The purpose of the TSTC Learning Resource Center is to serve the TSTC Community and support academic, advanced, specialized and emerging programs, contributing to the educational and economic development of the State of Texas. You can access the Learning Resource Center page at  https://portal.tstc.edu/employee/Departments/operations/Pages/Learning%20Resource%20Center.aspx

Texas State Technical College challenges students to be learners who assume responsibility for being a part of a community of scholars. Student presence and participation in the classroom is an important component of this challenge.

Furthermore, as part of its mission, TSTC offers an education that prepares students for professional employment. Each student is encouraged to develop a professional work ethic that reflects responsibility, initiative, and teamwork.

Students are expected to attend all classes. Students who are absent from class miss opportunities to contribute to the learning environment of the classroom and are developing patterns that will not be tolerated in the professional workplace.

In light of the above, the student is responsible for all assigned course work and cannot be absolved of this responsibility.  When enrolled in a particular course, the student is obligated to do all of the work assigned. Punctual and regular attendance is vital to the discharge of this obligation and absences, excused or not, do not alter this responsibility.

Student Conduct

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to dress in the appropriate attire for the class being presented.

Each student is expected to act responsibly and take the consequences for his/her action or inaction as appropriate.

An atmosphere of respect will be expected of all within the classroom.

Any open displays of prejudice, harassment, etc. will not be tolerated.

Any student who disrupts the classroom will be asked to leave and will receive a zero on all work due that day and will be counted as absent for the day.

A second disruption by that student will be grounds for the student to be administratively dropped from the class and other disciplinary action will be taken as appropriate.

There will be no smoking, dipping, chewing tobacco or use of profane language in the classroom.

Cell Phone Policy

Cell phone usage is prohibited in the classroom and during lab sessions. All cell phones will be put away and/or shut off during class. If a need or a situation arises such as an emergency the student will be required to leave the room to use the phone.

Participation Policy (Attendance)
A student upon their 6th absence will be issued a course grade of "F". When attendance roll is called at the beginning of class and you do not answer you will be considered absent.

Make-up Work

You are responsible for arranging to make-up missed work with proper documentation.

If you miss any Quizzes or Daily Labs it will be counted as a "0"!

Quizzes- No make-up for missed quizzes.

Tests - No make-tests for missed tests.

Lab Sessions

Supplies - Every time you come to lab you must bring (but not limited to) the required supplies, required tools, test equipment, lab book, textbook and/or handouts. Points will be deducted for failing to bring these supplies.

You will be expected to complete any and all labs during the allotted time frame.

Conduct - No food, no drink, no tobacco products, no horseplay.

Breaks - Breaks are allowed at your choosing on a limited basis. Be sure you will have time to complete the lab.

Cheating / Plagiarism Policy

TSTC expects all students to engage in scholastic pursuits in a manner that is beyond reproach. Students are expected to maintain complete honesty and integrity. Any student found guilty of scholastic dishonesty is subject to disciplinary action. Scholastic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating on academic work (such as copying, bribing, or buying/selling tests), plagiarism (claiming another’s work as one’s own without acknowledgement INCLUDING Internet data), and collusion (unauthorized collaboration). See College Catalogue for additional information.

The instructor holds the right to change and/or alter this class as needed through the semester at their discretion.

Other

All students in this course will comply with all general safety rules, which apply to the type of activity in progress in each class.  Violation of course safety rules can result in grade penalties and/or other appropriate disciplinary action.

If you are a student with a disability and would like to request special accommodations, please notify the Support Services Office, Annette Ellis, Room 150 in Admissions and Administration building.  Requests should be made before the 12th class day to receive special accommodations for the present semester. Proper documentation of your disability will be required.
